Our Conversion Program: Becoming Jewish
This is a program for those looking to formalize and celebrate their Jewish identity
Becoming is a program for those who wish to join the Jewish family. Secular Synagogue does not require a program or process. We believe in the power of self-identification. You can be a fully participating member exactly as you are. Still, some seek out a program of learning, self-reflection, developing a Jewish practice, and connection with community to solidify and celebrate becoming Jewish. This is that program: Becoming. As with all of Secular Synagogue’s offerings, this program is fully online/virtual.
What is included?:
-Materials and resources for a *self-directed* program of reflection, study, and practice
-Guided use of Secular Synagogue materials such as holiday programs and our DIY Shabbat guide
-A meeting with Rabbi Denise to culminate and create a personalized ceremony to mark your becoming Jewish
-A certificate of belonging to the Jewish family
There may be opportunities to connect with a cohort of those doing the Belonging program together
Who is this for?
Anyone who wishes to become Jewish and wants a program of reflection, study, and formal adoption of Jewish identity and adoption into the Jewish family. This offering is only open to members of Secular Synagogue because community participation is part of the program.

Who is this not for?
People who do not identify as Jewish, and do not wish to, but may have felt pressure to convert for reasons of marriage or family acceptance. All are welcome in Secular Synagogue — we have many folks connected to Jews by marriage or family and many exploring becoming Jewish. You are fully welcome without any program or process. This is also not for you if you already see yourself as Jewish, whether or not you are Jewish according to Jewish law, and do not feel the need for further study or any kind of ceremony. You are already Jewish! Wonderful!

The Becoming program is $180 USD.
